Junk Hauler or Professional Organizer: Which Do You Need?

They sound alike, but they solve different problems. One removes things. The other helps you decide what to remove, and sets up what stays.

A hauler removes things. An organizer helps you decide.

What a junk hauler does

A junk hauler loads items and takes them away. You decide what goes, and the hauler does the lifting and the disposal. Haulers fit a job where everything is leaving: an old shed, a pile after a project, or a cleanout where you already know what goes.

What a professional organizer does

An organizer helps you decide, and then sets up what stays. At Space Sorters that means sorting everything into Save, Share, Sell, and Sweep, organizing and labeling what you keep, and packing for moves. An organizer fits a garage with a mix of keepers and clutter, or any space where the hard part is deciding.

Sort first, haul last

When you hire a hauler first, you often pay to haul things you could have donated, sold, or kept. Working in order avoids that:

  1. Save: pull out what is staying and put it back in an organized way.
  2. Share: take usable items to a charity. See where to donate in Houston.
  3. Sell: list anything worth $50 or more. See how to sell locally.
  4. Sweep: whatever is left is what the hauler takes.

Questions to ask any hauler

How Space Sorters handles it

We do not own a junk-removal truck. Our Sweep service is a flat $35: we book a licensed hauler for you and meet them on site, and the hauler bills you directly. That keeps the sorting and the hauling in the right order, and you see the hauler's price before the load goes. See pricing for the details.

What none of us can take

Paint, chemicals, fuel, batteries, and propane tanks are outside what we handle, and many haulers will not take them either. Set them aside and mention them in your quote request. The City's Environmental Service Centers take many of them.

Not sure which you need?

Send a few photos of the space and tell us what you are hoping to end up with. We will tell you what we think the job needs, including whether you only need a hauler.
